Me and the staple remover

Today at the town and country center we cleaned up after the haunted house.  It seemed as though I arrived right when they started cleaning the rooms. I was enjoying the first part; my job was to take everything off the walls. Then after ten minutes or so of ripping things off and folding them, then putting them away; I was given a staple remover and was instructed to take the staples off the wall. This was the longest part of my day because there were some staples that wanted to be stubborn and didn’t want to come out cleanly, while others were too far in to even take out. And because people wanted to go crazy with the staple gun when they were hanging things up, I had to be in the middle of the walk way trying to take staples out of the ceiling, this part was all bad. So after awhile I finally finished and decided to vacuum. I love vacuuming... it’s probably my favorite part of cleaning. But in this case it was not. I noticed after vacuuming awhile that the vacuum was leaving behind more dust than it was picking up. So I and my two-sense decide to clean out all the filters and dump out the canister in hopes that the suction would return. But guess what… I didn’t… so I was bummed and I had to complete the remaining of the room and with a broom and a dustpan… but guess what… someone misplaced the dust pan and so I had to use a make shift one. Today was all kinds of bad, but yet was a lot of fun… and tomorrow we’re cleaning out a room with stuff stacked to the ceiling.

All this work helped my organization in a sense that they would now have more room to do stuff with the kids.

Breaking and fixing.

Today I arrived and got straight to work on the haunted house. Today I walked into a pitch black room with Halloween decorations all over the floor. We my first task was to straight up so we can work easier. So we started to hang decorations up and the staple gun ran out of staples. So I... just arriving... was asked to refill the staple gun.. so did... only with the wrong staples. So I had to take apart the staple gun and dis-log the staples from the shaft. Then I took on another project... so I tested one of their fog machines and found out that the fog juice from last year solidified inside the  electric pump and prevented it for working, so I spent the rest of the day trying to fix that and I had caramel apples for snack... which was awesome.

This helped the town and country learning center by giving them more option in constructing the haunted house.

Second Visit

After getting to know everyone it came to my attention that the planning committee for the haunted house needed some organization. So I deceide that I would take on that project and create a haunted house that the neighborhood would enjoy. The committee is made up of 3 other teenagers and myself. We have a initial idea of what to house would be ... we just need some more inspiration that would make the house more Erie looking.

First visit At the site.

I arrived on site with my mentor Saura Naderi.  The site is nothing like I would of expected it to be. The center is  actually two renovated apartments that was controlled by Miss Veverely or Miss V. I basically got a tour of the premises an got overall view of the program. We figured that for the first few visits I would just be around to find where I might fit in. The place is nice a cozy and the staff are really well connected, I think ill like this place.
