Temperatures are cooling down, but I'm just warming up.

Today at the center I actually got to tutor a kid... ask me the name of the kid... I wouldn't know. Anyways I read with him and played math games with him. One thing I learned is that when working with kids you have to take an assertive role or else the kids are going to control you.

AND THE DECORATIONS HAS BEEN ROLLED OUT!!!!!!
Its Christmas season @ the center and the decoration I set up was a Christmas count down clock. This this was a pain in the butt to sett up... especially the snow man that is attached to it. And then also we set up a 14 year old Christmas tree and its white.. well not really its more of a "I have been sunbathing too much" kind of white. And also I found a north pole sign and I spent quite a lot of brain power trying to figure out how to set up the north pole sign so that its correct and that everyone can see it. The center is not done but... I will take video of it next week.

Out of One... Into Another

Well we finished the clean up from the haunted house. Now were preparing for the Christmas giveaways. every year bath and body donates good to the center and ms veverly every year raffles them off.

When I arrived I was put to work packing the comforters and bathroom sets into to boxes. Something interesting the happen that was that the people that were working with me help my pack one comforter into a small box. It was the last box I had to pack before I left and was so funny.

Me and the staple remover

Today at the town and country center we cleaned up after the haunted house.  It seemed as though I arrived right when they started cleaning the rooms. I was enjoying the first part; my job was to take everything off the walls. Then after ten minutes or so of ripping things off and folding them, then putting them away; I was given a staple remover and was instructed to take the staples off the wall. This was the longest part of my day because there were some staples that wanted to be stubborn and didn’t want to come out cleanly, while others were too far in to even take out. And because people wanted to go crazy with the staple gun when they were hanging things up, I had to be in the middle of the walk way trying to take staples out of the ceiling, this part was all bad. So after awhile I finally finished and decided to vacuum. I love vacuuming... it’s probably my favorite part of cleaning. But in this case it was not. I noticed after vacuuming awhile that the vacuum was leaving behind more dust than it was picking up. So I and my two-sense decide to clean out all the filters and dump out the canister in hopes that the suction would return. But guess what… I didn’t… so I was bummed and I had to complete the remaining of the room and with a broom and a dustpan… but guess what… someone misplaced the dust pan and so I had to use a make shift one. Today was all kinds of bad, but yet was a lot of fun… and tomorrow we’re cleaning out a room with stuff stacked to the ceiling.

All this work helped my organization in a sense that they would now have more room to do stuff with the kids.

Breaking and fixing.

Today I arrived and got straight to work on the haunted house. Today I walked into a pitch black room with Halloween decorations all over the floor. We my first task was to straight up so we can work easier. So we started to hang decorations up and the staple gun ran out of staples. So I... just arriving... was asked to refill the staple gun.. so did... only with the wrong staples. So I had to take apart the staple gun and dis-log the staples from the shaft. Then I took on another project... so I tested one of their fog machines and found out that the fog juice from last year solidified inside the  electric pump and prevented it for working, so I spent the rest of the day trying to fix that and I had caramel apples for snack... which was awesome.

This helped the town and country learning center by giving them more option in constructing the haunted house.

Second Visit

After getting to know everyone it came to my attention that the planning committee for the haunted house needed some organization. So I deceide that I would take on that project and create a haunted house that the neighborhood would enjoy. The committee is made up of 3 other teenagers and myself. We have a initial idea of what to house would be ... we just need some more inspiration that would make the house more Erie looking.

First visit At the site.

I arrived on site with my mentor Saura Naderi.  The site is nothing like I would of expected it to be. The center is  actually two renovated apartments that was controlled by Miss Veverely or Miss V. I basically got a tour of the premises an got overall view of the program. We figured that for the first few visits I would just be around to find where I might fit in. The place is nice a cozy and the staff are really well connected, I think ill like this place.

Congressional Membership

1) Hunter, Duncan D.52

2) Political platform: Pro-life, Pro-Don't ask Don't tell,
-H.R.1551 Providing military families with financial support.
The bill basically said that military families would always be protected in terms of always being financially stable.
Response: I agree with this bill because families that put their members in harms way should have at least a little piece of mind.
-H.R.290 Repealing the don't ask don't tell policy
The bill amends and repeals the don't ask don't tell policy. I don't agree with this bill because i couldn't care less as to what people do in there personal time, as long as their putting their lives on the line for my freedom, I'm happy.
     -H.R.374 Abolishing abortion
The bill give power to the constitution to prevent abotion. I don't agree with this act because the reason for the woman to abort is because they probaly can't support the baby.  But if you for the woman to have the baby your essentially doominh the child to niglect.

Volunteership Before Hand

When I first heard about volunteer-ship I didn't like the fact that we have to do something like internship except on our own time. Anyways that's neither here nor there, but I'm planning to doing my volunteer-ship at an orphanage near Alec's house. For now, we've tried calling them but had no success, but I thinking I should start look else where for an internship.I guess the work I invision my self doing is help either animals at the human society or helping children, but in know for sure that I will not be working with plants or any thing the would required hard labor.
